A Hanseatic Cross constructed of silver plated copper and red enamels, the obverse depicts the Hamburg Coat of Arms in a central medallion, the reverse bears the inscription Fr Verdienst im Kriege 1914 (For Merit in the 1914 War), on loop for suspension from a ribbon with two red stripes on a white background, measures 40 mm (w) x 40 mm (h), and in near extremely fine condition, in addition to a letter that accompanied the award
