The 1st Special Service Force was an elite American-Canadian commando unit in the Second World War
Germany, Weimar Republic. A German Field Honour Decoration consisting of a blue enamelled Romanian Cross with clusters of nine gilt rays in eac broken side wall(Deutsches Feld Ehrenzeichen). Constructed of silvered and gilded bronze with enamels, the obverse consisting of an elongated eight pointed radiant star, the obverse bearing a central oval medallion overlaid by a raised German soldier in Stahlhelm and full field gear, surrounded by a pebbled gilt border, in turn forming the centrepiece of a white enameled Cross Patte with crossed swords piercing the centrepiece, the reverse with two visible rivets
