Don Maclean boat this building designed by BenjaminPhoto call to launch the Across Charity, Ambulance Mark V, the West Midlands 80,000 new jumbo ambulance. Midland comedians Don Maclean and Lenny Henry (who helped raise cash) put on a traffic stopping act to give the world's biggest ambulance the go ahead. Outside the Grand Hotel Birmingham, Don helped bearded driver John Hudgell to transport a roaring Lenny across the street on a stretcher, watched by another driver, Colin Hann. 30th March 1979.
