This wonderful house shaped box has lost the overhang of its roof on the back side and has a small loss on the front side too

with the representation of these cans being perfectly aligned with John's artistic and conceptual interests

a self-portrait of the soldier who made it

plus a nice warm patina--I'd guess it's a hundred years old or so

making me wonder if he isn't meant to represent a butler

These two look so much themselves, so relaxed, and very warm toward whoever was taking the photograph. With a pump in the hands of the young woman at left, and the young woman at right with hand on a steering wheel and a license plate to her right, seems they are just inside a garage, maybe waiting for a boyfriend or husband to finish up and get them on the road, off on an adventure! 6 1 8" x 3 7 8",
