A Serve Well Hosiery box, c. 1940s or so I believe, implying all sorts of possibilities for "serving well." Once it contained size 9 Ginger Brown stockings, but was found with Bingo cards and numbers inside, including some make do number substitutions written on cardboard representing a presumably well earned escape from serving well! And it does not seem very far fetched to me to imagine the wearer
