I don't think I've ever come across  a homemade cutter like this one

I purchased this in a cheap new frame where it was housed just to protect it and moved it into this much prettier c

including the use of antique red and indigo calicos for the edging

which is original to the making and I believe makes it all the more appealing

It appears to be the work of a young Caleb Cope

Lovely Earlier 19th Century PA German Mounted Cut Paper Design, Hand-painted Paper blind justic I don't think I've everI purchased this little beauty from a longtime paper dealer friend in PA, who shares my great appreciation for such things. This is PA German for sure, in the Scherenschnitte tradition, and with the paper here appearing to have been hand painted before being cut, then laid down on lined paper. 2nd quarter 19th century I would guess. And it feels especially Rorschach like. (I see a face in there.) Very nice. Paper 4 13 16" x 4 1 16". Good antique
