Description
quite a perfect embodiment/distillation of the universal tension between declaration/assertion/warning and its defiance
making this lamb look a a bit forlorn as it lounges on its little island
but then I realized it was surely a prize for the winner of what must have been a fierce Old Maid card game
or a shelter into which a few wooden animals might climb and rest--which is what I might do with it
And what I especially love about one is the reverse painting of the perimeter glass--looking just like pressed sea moss
Two Spiky Trees, Creature on Branch, New Favorite Child's Graphite Drawing, by Laverne Lovell Christmas village quite a perfect embodiment/distillation ofMy new favorite drawing, I find this just brilliant. One of two by a young Laverne Lovell listed today, plucked from a large pile of her work at Brimfield; she definitely had a singular way of seeing and rendering the world! The architectural way these trees are drawn, delineating negative space for this creature a squirrel I presume to inhabit, just totally does it for me. And then a pinecone and and a nut or acorn on the ground? I will hold this one
