This is actually the very first whirligig I have ever bought (aside from a few figures salvaged from broken ones)
with some variation in exposure
1860s watercolor is challenging to photograph (there's lots of glare in these images)
and I do believe she is quite an extraordinary one

The image of a hand gripping a scroll or bar was a common one during the Victorian era generally associated with ideas of fortitude and resilience, but also I believe more specifically with pro freedom and or anti slavery movements, symbolizing the strength required to "break chains" or "uphold liberty."
