This wine is still very youthful but has great vitality and a whack of ripe fruit hiding fine-grained tannins well

tannic and likely to require quite a bit of patience

and two-thirds of that oak is new

Tour Maillet Vintage:2009 A wonderfully pliant 2002 withFeatures good density but remains tight, with dark currant, fig and blackberry fruit balled up by charcoal tinged grip. Clove, ganache and espresso notes fill in on the finish, which should stretch out with cellaring. Best from 2014 through 2024. 1,083 cases made. JM
