When the United Soccer Association launched in 1967, rather than build rosters from scratch, it imported established European clubs wholesale and ADO Den Haag of the Dutch Eredivisie became the Gales for the season, coached by Austrian tactician Ernst Happel and featuring a 19 year old Dick Advocaat among their players.
